Rocket Stove

2024

Rocket Stove Abstract

An efficient portable heating system designed with rocket mass heater principles. The stove features an optimized combustion chamber and integrated heat exchanger to maximize thermal energy transfer while minimizing fuel consumption. Constructed with high-temperature steel components and precision-welded joints for durability in field conditions.

Combustion Chamber Design

The combustion chamber was designed to create a high-temperature burn zone that maximizes fuel efficiency. The vertical chimney design creates a strong draft effect, pulling air through the fuel chamber and creating a nearly complete combustion of wood fuel. This design reduces smoke output by over 90% compared to traditional campfires.

Thermal Performance Testing

Extensive field testing demonstrated the stove's ability to boil 1 liter of water in under 5 minutes using minimal fuel. Temperature measurements at the cooking surface consistently reached 400-500°F, providing excellent heat transfer for cooking applications while maintaining fuel efficiency.

Manufacturing Process

The stove was fabricated using sheet metal forming techniques and MIG welding. Precision cutting ensured proper fit-up of all components, while careful attention to weld quality created durable, heat-resistant joints capable of withstanding repeated thermal cycling.
